Mexlar Font

Mexlar is a free fantasy font licensed for personal use by Cumberland Fontworks. It's suitable for all sorts of scrolls and tomes. The fact that it hasn't suffered from overexposure like many fantasy fonts makes it particularly useful.

I have a thing about cuneiform fonts myself. Here are several downloadable fonts for those of you who are interested in a writing style that starts as pictographs about 5,000 years ago, and becomes the streamlined wedge system we now associate with cuneiform, which and used for nearly 3,000 years in the near and middle east.

It’s perfect stuff for ancient clay tablets and inscriptions on statues. The site also has some Phoenician fonts for those who want something different, but still quite ancient.
