Cthulhu Fhtagn! Miller Edition.

Britta Miller returns to our pages with this green stone Cthulhu idol.

As an aside, her idol is just the latest of the spring Cthulhus. I first noticed a burst of new idols appearing during the spring of 2012 and the pattern is repeating this year. Do artists suddenly get inspired? Or is it just a matter of having free time thanks to spring break? Whatever the cause, it's a pretty interesting occurrence.

I think I would tend to blame it on "winter projects" getting finished, not spring break projects starting and ending. Just my guess though.

I was going to say that it is inspired by dreams between Feb 28th and April 1st.

Or it could be that the image is coming to them in dreams...expect earthquakes soon :)

I always figured it was due to the March 23rd-April2nd interval from The Call of Cthulhu. What better way to commemorate Cthulhumas ("F'ch'nglui C'fhtagn?" "They-Cross Over-Threshold We-Wait," or "We are waiting for them to cross over into our world?") than by sculpting an idol? In fact, I'm planning to get a Cthulhu idol of my own put together before April 2nd comes, with the planning for said idol (it's a simple one, hence the fairly short timespan) starting on March 23rd. Seemed appropriate to me. I'd like to make this a tradition, with a new idol every year; hopefully I can stick to that.
